It depends how many books you need, how many color pages your book contains, the position of the color pages, the vibrancy of the colors, and the use of grey text or grey parts.     Offset printing

    Offset printing is the traditional printing method. The difference in quality between offset printing and digital printing is getting smaller all the time. Previously, that difference was very obvious and offset printing was considered superior to digital printing. Nowadays, that difference in quality between the two printing methods is negligible. Offset printing is now mainly used for larger print runs. At around 350 black and white copies, the price of offset printing is the same as the price of inkjet printing. Offset printing has high fixed costs and a low variable. But when color is required in the internal pages, digital printing will win almost every time. When printing, color pages in the inner section is a very simple process. In offset printing, color can only be processed in sections, which makes it expensive.

    The fact that the logos of two different parties feature the letter X so prominently can hardly be a coincidence. The letter X is commonly used in words where the meaning of the translation is a form of volume or denotes exceptional performance. In terms of Xerox’s iGen 5, this product does not detract from its designer. iGenX might have been a better name, but perhaps something of even greater significance awaits us when it comes to digital printing. When developing this product, Xerox paid close attention to productivity and print quality. This resulted in up to 150 color prints per minute, at a resolution of 2400x2400DPI. The iGen 5 also features matte toner technology, allowing a very faithful offset look and feel to be achieved.

  • Nexpress

    Another option is Kodak NexPress. The Nexpress is digital printing at the highest level. It is the Rolls-Royce of digital printers. With its high print quality, it is almost impossible to distinguish the digital printing produced by the Nexpress from offset printing. These digital printing presses dovetail seamlessly with the high-quality printed matter produced on conventional printing presses. Kodak NexPress SX Digital Production Color Platform guarantees a print quality that matches that of offset printing. However, the price is on average higher than inkjet and toner, but in terms of quality, if you put them side by side, this shows. Nexpress also offers the PUR binding option.

    This new printing method improves every day and is fast, efficient and environmentally friendly. The quality is comparable to that of offset printing and a variety of paper types can be used for printing. This method allows us to produce faster than ever. Nowadays, 85% of our theses and dissertations are printed using this high-quality method. Publishers also frequently use inkjet printing. Optima has chosen this printing method for the high quality of the grids and short turnaround time. The paper types we offer as standard for this printing method are HVO, Biotop and G-print. But in special cases, we use silk. Silk makes the colors brighter still.

    Do you prefer a glossy type of paper of even higher quality? No problem, we offer this option too. One of the printing methods we offer for digital production is dry toner printing. This printing method takes slightly longer than inkjet production, but dry toner printing makes the colors look especially vibrant. Slightly more expensive than inkjet production, but beautiful, vibrant colors. If, for example, you have images using specific RGB colors, we recommend you opt for this method of printing. The quality of dry toner printing is comparable to the quality you would find in a photo album.
